Ah, our first attempt at ADR (Audio Dialogue Replacement) went very badly Had the system setup a week before and it seemed fine but of course on the night when we had one of the actors in for only 30 minutes to do 40 seconds of dialogue and noises it did not work! Setup was a shotgun condenser microphone with XLR connection to phono jack plugged into a standard base unit PC via a creative x-hifi sound card. We did the record on a spare laptop and through "sound recorder" and got some audio, though now getting the main system ready and doing some tests, we are deferring the release of the first clip until we get all the ADR sorted. We have another shoot at the end of the month so will grab the actors afterwards to get better audio. We did try to use the orginal sounds, but the background hiss just cannot be killed! |
